What a professional, organized group of athletes!

Seriously, look at her arm.

Code Blue attended their first women’s tournament of the season over the weekend of October 3 and 4, 2009 at Rutgers University. Despite having a smaller group of players due to Family Weekend back at F&M, the team excelled.
On Saturday, ten veteran players attended the tournament, ready to bring back the amazing team chemistry that we all remembered from last year. The girls started the weekend off with a 13-7 victory over Villanova, followed by another win over Columbia University (15-2).
Our third game against Cornell A did not end with the big W, but Code Blue took pride in being the only team in our pool to put up any points against Cornell. Faced with a team of such a high caliber, with at least twice as many subs, Code Blue showed great perseverance and really showed spirit of the game by keeping smiles on their faces, having fun playing some Ultimate and learning from the experienced players from Cornell.
The team made the joint decision to forfeit the 5th game of the day against Princeton in favor of going home to get some much needed rest and come back the next day ready to compete in the third place bracket.
Sunday brought 12 girls to Rutgers, including a new player (Sarah Patterson) who was also celebrating her 19th birthday with a stunning pair of silver leggings (costume may have been forced on her). With only two games to play on Sunday, Code Blue was ready to leave it all on the field. Despite a (6-15) loss to Delaware Y, the girls rallied and ended the tournament with a win against Johns Hopkins (9-1).
Code Blue finished the tournament in 7th place, successfully holding rank. This was a major accomplishment for the team, as we graduated several team leaders last spring.
The weekend was a huge success and only made Code Blue all the more excited for future tournaments when we can be joined by even more of our teammates.
