Franklin & Marshall Ultimate - About the Team

Welcome to the F&M Ultimate website. The F&M Ultimate club is a competitive team that plays in several intercollegiate tournaments each semester. We always welcome new players, and no past experience is needed. F&M ultimate has both a men's team, Deep Blue, and a women's team, Code Blue. However, we still participate in coed tournaments.

Playing ultimate is a great way to get in shape, have fun, and make new friends at F&M as well as all the other schools we compete with. Ultimate has a very unique culture based around the concept of "Spirit of the Game". In ultimate, players call their own fouls and resolve disputes on the field without the help of referees. "Ultimate stresses sportsmanship and fair play. Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of respect between players, adherence to the rules, and the basic joy of play." Many athletes fall in love with ultimate because of the nature of the sport and the environment it creates. It's not surprising that so many great friendships are made between ultimate players because the sport attracts the best kind of people!

The Fall season is fairly laid back, and we concentrate on teaching the sport to the rookies and giving them plenty of opportunities to play in competitive tournaments. The Spring season is more competitive as both the men's and women's team prepare to compete in the UPA college series, ultimate's version of the NCAA championship. In the Spring 2007 season, the men's team qualified for Division III Nationals held in Versailles, Ohio.

The F&M ultimate club has lots of fun on and off the field, and we hope you give it a try. See you at practice!
